Teacher Hilma's Diary September - December 2010

For our New Year update, Hilma has written a diary each month sharing with us the latest news from Clever Cubs and her excitement over the children's latest developments:

September 2010
It is nearing the end of the school year and we are still being joined by new children from Gobabis at our school. 6 new children have joined us at the school and they all love it here. Welcome Velencia, Anna, Kaetje, Petrus, Rauna and Immanuel - we're delighted to have your join Clever Cubs!

I have to hand in the application forms at Eros Primary school for our new children that are going into First Grade there. I am so excited and can't wait to see yet another group joining the school bus to Windhoek.

October 2010
During this month we had so many people coming to visit our school. Annie (Cimador) gave us an early Christmas - the children had a party and also received toys from her which left every child smiling that day! Thank you so much Annie, it was wonderful having you with us and we can't wait for you to visit again.

The children at the mainstream schools are working very hard at the moment so that they can get through to their next Grade. Thank you to all the volunteers who were always willing to help them in subjects such as Mathematics.

November 2010
Now this was a busy month! The Clever Cubs are getting ready for their suprise graduation that nobody knows about (!), the older children have their heads in their books, busy with exams and we found out from Eros Primary that the children have been accepted into Grade One!

Thank you to Bruno for sponsoring the school uniforms and also the graduation gowns - the children looked fantastic and were absolutely thrilled with their new clothes.

December 2010
We are counting down the days until Graduation Day! The Clever Cubs are getting ready for their big day and the older children are also waiting to receive their official school reports.

The 4th December was such a lovely sunny day and no one had any idea of what would be happening - the parents, volunteers and staff were all present and awaiting the big suprise. The day went so well and the children enjoyed every minute of being the centre of attention and receiving praise and reward for their hard work. I received the school reports from the mainstream schools and all the children passed - I'm so proud of them.

This year was so enjoyable, both by myself and the children. Most of the children showed great improvement over the year and you can tell that they love being in school. Some children were even awarded Certificates of Achievement, which shows how hard they're working. I have every confidence that these children will achieve their dreams of becoming teachers and doctors one day.
