News from the Clever Cubs - October Update

The kids have been studying hard during this last term and almost all of them have improved their grades. But it has not all been hard work, as you know here at N/a’an ku sê we work hard and we play hard, and that applies even to the little ones! Read about our facepainting party and Teacher Hilma's graduation in Early Childhood Development...

Primary School Children - October update

Anna: Anna is so patient with all the little toddlers at Clever Cubs and is a wonderful role model to them all. She lights up the classroom every day with her ever sparkling smile. Anna will be turning 18 this month, which is a huge milestone. As a celebration she took her very first trip to the ocean! She took a trip with some friends to Sossusvlei and climbed the famous Dune 45. You can see from her huge smile here just how much she enjoyed the holiday!

Clever Cub Pre-school Children - October update

Andy: Andy is very excited about starting mainstream school in January. The school has organised a welcoming party and braii for all the new kids starting next year on 4th of November and she is very much looking forward to seeing her new classroom and meeting her teacher.  Andy looked beautiful when we did facepainting at school last week!

Winter Wardrobe

The days and nights have become very chilly here in Namibia as Winter has well and truly come around again. Thanks to generous individuals and companies we have received lots of donated clothes and blankets to help keep the San Bushman families here and in Epukiro where our Clinic is, warm throughout the next few months. Using donations from Child Sponsors we have also been able to buy winter coats for the children.

Clever Cubs receive some Cricket coaching

The San Bushman children at our Clever Cubs school have been lucky enough to receive coaching by Cricket Namibia who have partnered with UNICEF to introduce the concept of a healthy living lifestyle and choices through sport and development.

Bushman Olympics

On Saturday 16th April, just before the children went away for their Easter Holidays, we held our annual Bushman Olympics here at N/a'an ku se. All the children got really into the spirit of the games and there were definitely signs of some budding athletes amongst our Clever Cubs....perhaps even some future Olympians! Teams were made up of volunteers, children and parents - we had Team Namibia, England, Scotland, America and Germany all represented in our games which included an egg and spoon race and football dribble.

FRANS loves to play the big brother role towards his little brother Saul! When he's not looking after and protecting his brother, he loves playing with all the toys - cars in particular and lots of colouring too.
